Casey Stein Photo.jpg

CASEY STEIN

(DIRECTOR OF PHOTOGRAPHY)

As a kid, Casey split his time in and around local theater productions and exploring D.C. on his BMX. Then, he moved to New York to go NYU’s Tisch School of The Arts to pursue a degree in Film and Television. Casey has gone onto to direct pieces for multiple Fortune 500 companies, dozens of musicians and countless brands. His films have screened all over the world, including most recently at the Tribeca Film Festival and The New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center where Holy Night, an interactive film about addiction in small town America, screened. In 2018, Casey was commissioned to write a psychological thriller feature film set inside an NFL locker room.

His work has spanned genres, mediums and technologies, but most often times you can find Casey leading films, commercials, documentaries, virtual reality pieces, and most importantly, interactive films. Overall, Casey tries to tell stories that make a difference by elevating voices that need to be heard.

In his spare time, you can usually find Casey on one of his (likely too many) bicycles.

FAQS

-What is your movie about?

A Long term, socially awkward couple start to explore having a threesome, forcing them to confront insecurities both internal and external on their quest to evole thier relationship. Hilarity Ensues.

-Why Should i watch this over all the other movies on netflix ?

It’s a comedy of manners about group sex.

-wHERE/WHEN CAN I WATCH IT?

We have our worldwide premire at the Austin Revolution Film Festival in Austin TX, this september 6th at 8:30pm. We will be having our NorthEast premiere as part of the Golden Door International Film Festival in Jersey City, NJ in mid September, exact date and time TBA.

-WHAT INSPIRED “THREEWAY”?

One day, Tim Dowd was lying in bed with his girlfriend at the time and she turned to him and asked “Would you ever want to have a threeway?” Tim was convinced it was a trap and wove an elegant answer explaining how shortsighted and selfish that would be. He thought he nailed it. That is when she said “cause i thought it would be kinda hot…” THAT…did not go great but that conversation served as the spring board and our opening scene. '

-where did you raise the funds for this movie?

Did you see the movie Heat?

-…the…bank robbing movie?

-were there any particular challenges?

Obviously no one ever said that raising fund for filmmaking was easy. But easily the most challenged moment was when, due to a technical error, we lost an entire day of filming. This, needless to say, is a big problem on bigger studio sets let alone tiny productions that are getting by on asking for favors and credit card debt. We went through the scenes we had lost, made some harsh cuts and reassembled the cast and crew (already scattered to the four corners of the earth) to reshoot the most pivotal moment from that lost day.

-WHERE WAS IT SHOT?

All on location here in NYC!

-HOW MUCH DID IT COST?

Somewhere just south of $30,000. Around $10,000 during the production phase and another $20,000 during the post production phase.

-What do you compare your film to?

Your mom.

-I feel like you’re not taking this seriously.

Sorry sorry, we compare our film to the crude humor but genuine sentinment of Kevin Smith and Judd Apatow. A comedy explored flawed characters as they explore the ambigous coming of age that has become so commonplace in most millenial’s lives. Also, your mom.

-wHAT’S NEXT?

If you like our film we also have a series of sketch comedy videos on our youtube channel and we are currently preparing our next feature script Your Biggest Fan. “A washed up, middle aged former sci-fi star who has spent the last 20 years drinking and sport fucking her way through the convention circuit. But one day her life changes when a fan, whom she’s never met commits suicide and leaves our starlet her only possesion, her family house. Now she must travel to this small town to unravel the mystery of why this super fan made this strange choice and she must come to grips with the worthiness of her life’s work".
